A crane operator often cannot see the load they are lifting. They rely entirely on the Slinger Signaller to ensure the load is secure, balanced, and free to move.
This course provides the vital skills required to attach lifting accessories safely and direct crane movements with absolute clarity.
Course Overview.
Designed for personnel responsible for slinging loads and directing cranes (overhead, mobile, or tower). We combine classroom theory with intensive practical application using real loads.
Key Syllabus Areas.
Load Weight Estimation: Calculating the mass and centre of gravity of various objects.
Selection of Accessories: Choosing the right gear (Chain slings, webbing, shackles, eyebolts) for the specific load and environment.
Slinging Techniques: Understanding the impact of sling angles on the Safe Working Load (SWL). How to use choke hitches and basket hitches correctly.
Pre-Use Inspection: Identifying cuts in webbing, stretched chain links, and bent shackles.
Communication: Mastering standard BS 7121 Hand Signals and radio protocols to direct the crane operator safely.
Why Competence Matters.
Incorrect slinging is the primary cause of dropped loads. RSIS training ensures your team understands the physics of lifting, preventing accidents that damage equipment and endanger lives.
