Forklift trucks are the workhorses of industry, but they are also statistically one of the most dangerous pieces of equipment in the workplace. RS Industrial Services delivers RTITB-accredited training that goes beyond simple "driving lessons."
We teach operators the physics of stability, the importance of load centres, and the discipline of safe manoeuvring.
Available Course Types.
Novice (3-5 Days): For those with no prior experience.
Experienced (2-3 Days): For operators with experience but no formal training.
Refresher (1 Day): Recommended every 3 years to maintain competence and break bad habits.
Conversion: Training existing operators on a new machine type (e.g., Counterbalance to Reach).
Machine Categories Covered.
Counterbalance (B1): The standard industrial forklift.
Reach Trucks (D1): For high-density warehousing.
Telehandlers (J1): For construction and rough terrain.
Pedestrian Operated (POET): Power pallet trucks and stackers.
Key Learning Outcomes.
The Stability Triangle: Understanding how load weight, height, and momentum affect the truck's centre of gravity.
Pre-Use Inspection: Conducting rigorous daily checks of hydraulics, forks, chains, and tyres (PUWER compliance).
Load Manipulation: Stacking and de-stacking in racking systems, vehicle loading, and handling awkward loads.
Legislation: Responsibilities under HASAWA 1974 and LOLER 1998.
