The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) is a registered charity and the professional voice for environmental health. CIEH’s aims are concerned about people’s health, safety and wellbeing - the things that are crucial to life itself. The history of the CIEH can be traced back to the 1840s, when it was suggested that improving sanitation may lead to an improvement in public health, which in turn may help people become more economically prosperous.
